Aloo Gutka

I am a regular viewer of NDTV Good Times channel, especially the cookery shows. The recipe which I am posting now is from Chak le India show by Chef Aditya Bal.

It’s a Kashmiri cuisine. Extremely simple, extremely easy and extremely tasty as well.

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

Aloo / Potato / Urulai Kilangu – 4 (Medium Size)
Jeera – 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds – ½ tsp
Chilly Powder – 1tsp
Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
Coriander Powder – ½ tsp
Salt – to taste
Water – 4 tbs
Coriander Leaves (Chopped) – 1 tbs
Oil – 1 tsp

Method:

Boil the potatoes till it is 75% cooked. Remove the skin and cut into desired size.

Heat a pan. Add oil and then Mustard seeds & jeera. Once it’s splutter, add all the powder and stir in low flame for 5 seconds. Add the water and boil for 2 minutes in low flame. Ensure that it won’t get burned. If it is necessary add little water.

Now add the potatoes and stir in such a way that the spices get well coated with the potato and at the same time potato should not break. Add salt. Cover and cook in low flame for 3-5 minutes till the water get absorbed by potato, stirring in between. When the potatoes started turning crisp, turn off the heat.

Add chopped coriander leaves and serve.
