My parent having a habit of spending this day in a temple (Murugan Temple, Chettikulam). We used to reach previous day night itself since my father is the in-charge for the Ganapathy Homam on Tamil new year day. After spending almost the whole day in temple, we would reach home in the late evening.
Why I am saying all this is we did not get the chance to cook special food on new year day at home. After marriage I started cooking the traditional food on this day.
Today the menu was Mango Pachadi, Drumstick Sambar, Plantain Podimas, Rasam, Moong Dhal Payasam, Kadalai Paruppu Vadai & Curd.
